Flyingdutchman
Gentlemen, here comes a dagger I can?t judge. I have contacted Kurt Glemser and he is thinking that this dagger could be an English navy dagger and probably was made for their Hanoveranian members. The dagger has a genuine ivory grip and shows age, but has been heavily cleaned. Any thougts on this greatly appreciated ! Thanks in advance.Best;Flyingdutchman

Vic Diehl
This is certainly a very interesting naval dirk, with typical "sailor" scrimshaw decoration and of the mid 19th century. The military of many nations contained readily identified units, brigades, squadrons staffed in a least part by foreign nationals. Did the British navy contain an identified Hannoverian group?
