Marcin L Posted April 7, 2007 Posted April 7, 2007 Hello.Simple question: does "L.M.K.1" stands for Landwehr/Landsturm Maschinengewehr Kompagnie 1, or... something else? As far as I know it can not be "Leichte Maschinengewehr Kompagnie 1" because there was just one Leichte MGK (with number 75, part of 11 Landwehr Division).Any ideas?Regards,Marcin.
Chip Posted April 7, 2007 Posted April 7, 2007 Marcin,It stands for "Leichte Munitions-Kolonne". These were the columns of the field artillery. Many organizational changes throughout the war ended up combining the light munitions columns and the infantry munitions columns into larger groupings.Chip
