Vodorosl Posted July 19, 2007 Posted July 19, 2007 Gentlemen and Ladies(?)!Without the Russian button, could this be a prussian shoulderboard? Thanks in advance
Mike Dwyer Posted July 19, 2007 Posted July 19, 2007 I'm no expert, but if they are imperial German shoulderboards, they're for a Prussian one-year volunteer (black/white edging).
Guest Rick Research Posted July 20, 2007 Posted July 20, 2007 Those are certainly SOME kind of Russian straps, but ZERO clue what black and white Prussian 1 Year Volunteer typepiping is doing on there.. I will move this into the Tsarist section.

Chip Posted July 20, 2007 Posted July 20, 2007 These are Tsarist shoulder boards for one of the Life Guard Rifle Regiments. The black and white cord boarder is correct for a wartime volunteer. The cording that Vodorosl is refering to is the one year volunteer cord and it should have the addition of an orange cord twist.Chip
Vodorosl Posted July 21, 2007 Author Posted July 21, 2007 Chip, there was no black and white piping in tsarist army
GeorgeCL Posted July 21, 2007 Posted July 21, 2007 Best match I can find.Maybe aviation unit.No color pic. but looks to be black and white piping.I hope Greg see's this post.George
Chip Posted July 21, 2007 Posted July 21, 2007 Vodorosl,Unfortunately, it appears that you are quite wrong.Chip
Vodorosl Posted July 21, 2007 Author Posted July 21, 2007 Wow Chip and George, I was hoping that I was wrong - thank you very much for your help.
Vodorosl Posted July 21, 2007 Author Posted July 21, 2007 Chik, it turned out - the board on the left never existed (the german book got it wrong), it was suppose to be white, red and blue piping, there was never a black and white, thanks for your help though.
Chip Posted July 21, 2007 Posted July 21, 2007 (edited) Vodorosl,You have the picture of the Russian shoulder boards with the piping and I have shown you the piping in a period (dated 1917) intelligence reference on the Russian army and still you are saying it never existed? You can very easily say that the piping on the shoulder boards is wrong and that the reference material is wrong, but on the other hand, you have nothing to prove what you say is correct. I am willing to consider your assertion, but you have said nothing to convince me other than "because I said so".Chip Edited July 21, 2007 by Chip
