With the large clans, there are likley to be SEVERAL men with the same names, so without having ANY clue as to where to look for the RIGHT one....

Good questions, Rick, I wish I knew the answer! I'm just looking for some informations regarding the von Treskow clan for a related noble family from Germany. I can't tell you much alas, other then that the only photo we still have of him was taken in Metz when it was still German. The uniform he is wearing is clearly pre-1914. I'm "blind" when it comes to imperial matters so I can't be of much help.
