Can anyone point me in the right direction as how to discern good from bad on the double scroll cap badge please.

I can't I'm afraid, obviously the ever required "sense" of feel, look etc comes into play when handling the thing, butI don't know if there are any particular giveaways when it comes to "trademarks" of particular restrikes or forgeries.
