We all have our interests and take on things, but IMHO most bio data will be ordered on what wars he fought in, when he served, even when he died, not soley on what medals he picked up. Can I assume that he was a junior officer in 1870? Which Army?

Exactly. I find NO record of ANY Prussian General at any time with that pair of names.
