Bear Posted October 19, 2007 Posted October 19, 2007 Hello,Were the Hanover Guards around during the 1770's and if so where were they located. I'm also looking for a picture of what a Hanover officers redcoat during that time. I can't find anything on the web.thanks, barry
peter monahan Posted October 21, 2007 Posted October 21, 2007 BarryA quick search suggests that they were still in Hanover in 1757, when a prominent astronomer who'd played in their band emigrated to England. Not much help, i know but... perhaps a starting spotPeter
Bear Posted October 22, 2007 Author Posted October 22, 2007 Thanks Peter Here are a list of websites that I found on Hanover.8th Kings Regiment of Foothttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/8th_(The_King...egiment_of_FootI guess they were in the American Revolution.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/House_of_HanoverUniform Detailshttp://www.koenigreich-hannover.de/ukuniform.htmlhttp://www.kgl.deA picture from the book American Heritage the American Revolution p170This British officer's uniform coat is faced with dark blue of the house of Hanover, indicating that he belongs to a Royal Regiment. The coat's knee-length skirts are turned back for greater ease in marching.thanks, barry
