FireMedals
I picked up this Hamburg fire brigade medal that I haven?t seen before. The obv. has FREIE UND HANSESTAD HAMBURG. The rev. HAMBURGER FEUERWEHR. It?s 42mm, cast in what appears to be a zinc material. The casting is generally o.k. except for the centers where the grainy finish tends to show. Is anyone else familiar with this piece? Some of the design appears 19th or early 20th century, while others areas look 1920-30?s. I?m wondering if it?s a cast copy of a real silver medal, or just a souvenir item to recognize the fire brigade.
