Guest Rick Research Posted November 2, 2007 Posted November 2, 2007 ha. Tricked you. The postcard is OF Chinese missionaries (as well as every available Sea Battalion Marine, apparently) in Tsingtau. From the date this was mailed IN Memel... in a very short time a very large number of all the people in this postcard would be dead.Eduard just reports in, on 14 August 1899, with his temporary address, offhand remark that the weather's good, and what he'll be doing later in the day.To his sister, as it turns out:
Ulsterman Posted November 2, 2007 Posted November 2, 2007 Nice- i wonder what the badge is that the Mandarin/Missionary is wearing in the front row?
Guest Rick Research Posted November 2, 2007 Posted November 2, 2007 15 years later, Vally was a widow with 2 girls, and Eduard would not survive the war, either. By 1916, the von Loschs were no more."Weather's good. Today, taking the waters at Sandkrug. Many greetings."
