lock of japanese cases

According to my last post about the japanese medal shown there I would like to ask you about the lock of the case: is the form of the lock a symbol, too? And if yes, what it means or for what it stand for?

The lock on the case is not a symbol, it is simply a lock with no cultural significance or meaning.

I though taht the lock could be a special sign because I've seen the same "form" and a text inside on the rearside of a medal...
