Ed_Haynes Posted November 6, 2007 Posted November 6, 2007 What I think (?) is the abortive 1938 blue patrol, for a RAOC captain. Unform went away with the war.Not 100% sure the collar badges are original.
Ed_Haynes Posted November 6, 2007 Author Posted November 6, 2007 (edited) Given my interests, the main attraction lies in the ribbons and in the medal group they represent. Can't have been many ca. 19348 RAOC captains with WWI MM, 1914 Star and clasp, MiD, service in India, GV jubilee, and a LSGC? Edited November 6, 2007 by Ed_Haynes
Guest Rick Research Posted November 6, 2007 Posted November 6, 2007 No name label? I don't know about British career paths, but in the German forces, the same corps was drawn from long serving NCOs commissioned into their Feuerwerks/Zeug specialties.
Ed_Haynes Posted November 6, 2007 Author Posted November 6, 2007 (edited) No name label? Have done everything buy disassemble the tunic but . . . no.A half-cigarette in one of the pockets, though. So maybe DNA testing?? The awards must be pretty distinctive, but my research skills with natives (of the British Isles) are limited. Edited November 6, 2007 by Ed_Haynes
Ed_Haynes Posted November 6, 2007 Author Posted November 6, 2007 The Collar Badges are Post 1947 pre 1954.RalphSuspected -- feared -- as much Ralph. Thanks. Doesn't matter a lot . . . .
Ralph Posted November 6, 2007 Posted November 6, 2007 The basic problem lies in the fact that there is no indication from which Regiment/Corps he was commsioned. Quite a few members of the RA were commissioned into the Corps which makes it difficult to pin down any individual. The IGS 1937 was a relatively scarce award to the RAOC, they had 83 MMs awarded in WW1 and not that many clasps to the 1914 Star. If it was confirmed that he was, in fact in the RAOC as an other rank (must have been an O/R due to the LS medal) then there could be a reasonable chance of narrowing him down.Ralph
Ed_Haynes Posted November 6, 2007 Author Posted November 6, 2007 Yes, Ralph. A lot of cross-correlation to do. And just for a uniform . . . . Thanks. Anyway, nice 'um (though a shame about the collar badges, but no tears).
