Douglas Kerley Posted December 18, 2007 Posted December 18, 2007 This friend of mine was a 16 year Dutch old lad on an oil storage tank farm in Indonesaia when the Japanese sent Paratroopers in. They had set up defences and oiled the landing fields so when the Japanese landed the Dutch set them afire. This rather POed the Japanese who murdered his mother and Father after they had given up. He continued to fight on for a bit taking pot shots ect. for a few weeks but then turned himself in. He spent the War in Japanese inturnment. My question is, is there some Dutch and/or Indoneasian medal that he would qualify for? Could I get him a copy of it anywhere? Would it be possible for him the get recognition for his service at this late date? Doug
Michael Johnson Posted December 18, 2007 Posted December 18, 2007 (edited) I would think he might have a claim to the Netherlands War Medal. Check with the Dutch embassy. Here are the applicable medals: http://users.skynet.be/hendrik/eng/39NL.html Edited December 18, 2007 by Michael Johnson
