Hello Rick,

Indeed not a common one within a German group. It is most likely an award for a lesser degree of lifesaving (from drowning, from a fire, ...). The status of the person concerned would not be influential to the class of the decoration awarded.

Thanks for clarifying that! It must have been difficult to evaluate degree of danger to the recipient with so many classes available!
