    Hi gang,

I recently picked up a Canadian ww2 group to a john williams harold heard R-74590 Royal Canadian Air Force. The group consists of a 1939-1945 star defence medal, voluntary service medal and clasp, war medal, and memorial cross engraved. My question is this it came with a copy of his service record from the Canadian Archives that say he was awarded the france and germany star and not the 1939-45 star, very confussed was this possible or could the papers be wrong?

    Thank you

Does the Service Record have his details of when he served in Europe or embarkation/disembarkation dates? This would go some way to solving the puzzle. Chances are he served over Europe and was never awarded the medal due to his demise.

Details, my friend, we need details...(or a scan)

    Regards,

    Johnsy

    Hi Johnsy,

His service records say that he enlisted in september of 1940, he was killed in march 1943 as a result of a crash on a trainging exercise while piloting a wellington. Sadley it does't say when he arrived in england.

    thank You
