Snoopy Posted February 29, 2008 Posted February 29, 2008 HelloThis is a helmet, that I have in my collection. I believe that it is a MK II. The helmet has an oilskin hood, originally intended against gas. The hood is tucked under the rim of the helmet. These hooded helmets where often used by ww II firemen, since the hood offered protection against sparks and water. These hoods have rarely survived, since they are fragile.Snoopy
leigh kitchen Posted March 1, 2008 Posted March 1, 2008 Also used by police, Peterborough police had one on display, or rather just sitting on the head of a fairly realistic dummy wearing the old style patrol neck uniform in the briefing room of one of Bridge Street police station in the 1980s-90s.
