Ed_Haynes
Put up over at http://gmic.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=18112&st=25 but maybe not much interest or traffic there.Russian Union of Afghan Veterans: Medal of the Russian Union of Afghan Veterans / Медаль Российского Союза Ветеранов АфганистанаSee also: http://faculty.winthrop.edu/haynese/medals...han/fourth.htmlInterestingly, the ribbon differs from that shown at Yuri's moribund site: http://awards.netdialogue.com/Russia/RF/Public/RSVA/RSVA.htm
Ed_Haynes
Yes, the document (exterior) shows.
Ed_Haynes
And -- more relevantly for the ribbon question -- the interior.

Guest Rick Research
I hope that is a REAL veterans organization and not just a front to sell medals like the retailers churning out stuff for our vanity market.Well made and clearly identifies who the issuing body is--assuming there actually IS one.The reverse slogan is rather odd, though. I don't recall the Politburo consulting a Higher Authority.
Ed_Haynes
No, I have heard of this one from veterans with whom I have been in communication, though if any of our Russian members drift by I'd appreciate their thoughts. Remember, Rick, this is RUSSIAN, not SOVIET, and "god" is now all over everything.
Guest Rick Research
"Gott Mit Uns".... where have I heard THAT before.... and that (shudder) Romanov crowned double eagle.... I can't quite recall which Tsarist campaign medal this replicates the ribbon of, either. The unattended irony is just laid on in layers. Still, nice design on the front. Ed_Haynes
I can't quite recall which Tsarist campaign medal this replicates the ribbon of, either.I think it is the Capture of Paris 1814 (reversed, it would be for the Russo-Turkish War 1877-78).
