Snoopy Posted March 31, 2008 Posted March 31, 2008 HelloI have had this shoalder board for many years. The previous owner attached a label on the reverse, that states that it is from a Ulanen regiment. I wonder if anyone can tell me if that's correct, and if the board is ww I, or pre ww I? Thank's in advance. All the bestSnoopy
Guest Rick Research Posted March 31, 2008 Posted March 31, 2008 The ghost of an upper Captain's pip and the marks from either two numbers or a cipher show clearly. This has been altered so what it is now is not what it was.I have never understood the probably 98% screwed-with nature of Imperial shoulder boards.
Chip Posted April 1, 2008 Posted April 1, 2008 This is a pre-1915 Prussian board. The 2nd Ulan Regt. did have a red underlay, but Rick is correct concerning the alterations to this piece, which tend to put any identification in doubt. Rick,98%? I would say not even 50%, but still a lot. Chip
Snoopy Posted April 2, 2008 Author Posted April 2, 2008 Hello Rick and ChipThank you very much for the help. This is maybe a stupid question, but could these alterations, have been done during it's service life? All the bestSnoopy
Guest Rick Research Posted April 3, 2008 Posted April 3, 2008 No-- or the ghosts from where devices were removed would not still be shiny compared to the rest of the dull boards.98% of the ones that I see!
