benten Posted April 29, 2008 Posted April 29, 2008 (edited) Is this ring a German imperial ring or what else could it be?Is in the centre a regiments-number?Does someone know the crown? What period is this ring.Thank you in advance ,Benten Edited April 29, 2008 by benten
Guest Rick Research Posted April 29, 2008 Posted April 29, 2008 That is the insignia of Royal Italian Infantry Regiment 15(8?).
Chip Posted April 29, 2008 Posted April 29, 2008 Yep, an Italian infantry regimental ring. My pocket handbook on the Italian army circa May 1915 (the same month Italy entered the war) shows infantry regiments only numbered up to 94, so I guess that this is either a wartime or postwar ring (if the number is actually 158).Chip
benten Posted April 30, 2008 Author Posted April 30, 2008 Thanks for you reply gentlemen.Perhaps the "8" is an additional number , to indicate a sub unit of the 15 regiment......?Cheers,Benten
Guest Rick Research Posted April 30, 2008 Posted April 30, 2008 No... it looks like a generic design that was stamped to order for each customer, so hand done (not very well).
italianpolitic Posted May 30, 2008 Posted May 30, 2008 Hi, is it right. 158? Reggimento di Fanteria Liguria (158? Infatry Regiment Liguria). Nice item.Bruno
