Wood Posted June 25, 2008 Posted June 25, 2008 A find today with a money back guaranty. (A) is it real? I hope so, (B) is it a Deumer? and © is this an issue type or private purchase? The pin seems to have been refastened to the hinge barrel at some time in the past, although it looks the same age as the cross, and the top edge of the pin quite crudly struck off with a file at an angle. As an afterthought could it be a gold? Or where the bronze ones lacquered? Please answer question (A) first!!!!Regards,PeteFront
Wood Posted June 25, 2008 Author Posted June 25, 2008 Hinge.Sorry I only have a flatbed scanner. The cross is heavily vaulted and the hook of the flattened type.thanks,Pete
Richard Gordon Posted June 28, 2008 Posted June 28, 2008 Hello.I believe it is original in bronze class (definitely not gold). I don't follow these that closely but I do not believe this one is a Deumer. Maybe S&L?Rich
Wood Posted June 28, 2008 Author Posted June 28, 2008 Thanks for the reply Richard. I agree, its a bronze. After a few days checking the forums, I just found out that it would seem that this is an unmarked L/18 B.H. Mayer (not so easy to find illustrations of this maker), so I presume private purchase piece. There was a silver L/18 on Detlev's update yesterday and the reverse of one shown by Jaques (I was hoping for him to put an oar in here) on WA some time ago. Still it would be nice to get this confirmed to put me completely at ease.Regards,Pete
Jacques Posted July 1, 2008 Posted July 1, 2008 Hi,sorry I was out .It is a good one IMO, from the Pforzheim consortium Foerster/Mayer/Zimmermann which got part of the Schickle stock in 1941jacques
Wood Posted July 2, 2008 Author Posted July 2, 2008 Thanks Jaques, and a new piece of information that I didn't know about. Has this been talked about before?Regards,Pete (sleeping soundly)
