notned Posted October 17, 2005 Posted October 17, 2005 Heres an unusual combo...how did the HK get in front of the Barvarian cross????
Stogieman Posted October 17, 2005 Posted October 17, 2005 Well, based strictly on the photos, it appears something was removed and the HKwX added in. Notice that the folds on the bow bottoms (visible in the second photo) are all identical with the one exception being the HKwX. It would be unlikely that the bar was all mounted at the same time (IMO) given this one fact alone.
Guest Rick Research Posted October 17, 2005 Posted October 17, 2005 Could have been one of the 1920s veterans' "awards" that were replaced by the Hindenburg Cross was swapped out by the thrifty wearer. You find this strange WW1 state awards AFTER Hindenburg Cross mounting style very briefly apparently about the time the HC was created, and the Third Reich gave national primacy to the previously "Prussian" Iron Cross. I suspect it was a period misreading of the 1935 regulations placing PEACETIME federal state awards after the Hindenburg Cross, because of a mis-interpretation that the HC was a "Reichs" level award taking precedence over "local" awards. This is very definitely a "1935" frozen in time bar!
notned Posted October 17, 2005 Author Posted October 17, 2005 (edited) Thanks gents!Yes Stogie/Rick, i had noticed the difference with the HK ribbon and wondered why it was not consistent with the other ribbons.Hmm, so its a 'caught between' regulations bar...Thankyou again!Cheers,Paul Edited October 17, 2005 by notned
