Chris Pittman Posted July 11, 2008 Posted July 11, 2008 I have two of these little wooden cigar boxes. Both of them have Third Reich tax stamps and I believe both were brought back by US veterans. I imagine that these would have been ideal containers for other veteran souvenirs and I wonder about the history of these things. They are not the most exciting or glamorous collectibles but they appeal to me and I enjoy them a lot. This first one is for the "Gungir" brand.
Chris Pittman Posted July 11, 2008 Author Posted July 11, 2008 This one is a little more ornate, for the "Tafelmusik" brand. The closure is a little metal clasp shaped like a hand.

Danny70 Posted July 11, 2008 Posted July 11, 2008 Hello Chris,I have a weakness for little wooden boxes of all kinds, in so much that my wife has begun to loose her patience with me and doesn't want to see another for a long time! These are great!, I especially love the 'Tafelmusik' one. It amazes me to see the workmanship that goes into some of them, the dovetail joints and that clasp is a beautiful touch. And then... the TR tax stamps, well, they are just the icing on the cake!!Regards - Danny
