Universal Carrier (a.k.a. Bren Gun Carrier)

Hello Everyone,

Continuing with my posts from the Canadian Military Heritage Museum in Brantford, Ontario is a Universal Carrier also known as the Bren Gun Carrier. There is a Vickers MG displayed on top of the carrier and while at first it looks to be part of the vehicle I don't believe it to be so. These are one of my favourite armoured vehicles though they are thin skinned.

This one has been restored by the museum and another awaiting restoration is in their parking lot. The day I was there was too rainy to use the camera outside so I will return to photograph that another time.

Here is the driver's area. The 1/2 crewman/mannequin looks to have been from the Blue Man Group.

The are just in front of the camera would have been where the gunner sat. This could have also held the vehicle commander. The radio operator would have sat in the back.

This is a photo of the typical radio set up. It is a Wireless Set No. 19 Mk 2.

This is a photo of the Vickers MG that sits on the Universal Carrier display, just in case you wanted a closer look.

I would like to post some shots of the different machine guns they have in the collection at a later time so you may see this again but in better detail.
