antabreu Posted August 24, 2008 Posted August 24, 2008 Hi, I am a collector of Portuguese Military Postal marks. Time to time I am coming across some other nice pieces related. Now, I have a postal card with a view of a "Zerst?rer" (a German destroyer, I belive) at a "fleet parade", duriing summer time. As the postal card had been cut all around to reduce its size, there is no legend. As she has the number "51" I believe it will be possible to have her exact identification. Although, some one give the information: ?The number "51" on the ship does not mean that this might be destroyer "Z51". This number is a tactical number inside the squadron this destroyer was attached to. Therefore, over the time, several destroyers had the tactical number "51" painted on their side.? And so, it will be necessary to identify ?when and where? the photo was taken. After some ?looking around? I am confident the photo was, probably, taken at the ? Fleet parade in Kiel because of the launch of the heavy cruiser Prinz Eugen?, on 22.08.1938. The postal card was an edition of ?Trinks & Co., Leipzig? with ?Nr. 2079?. It was written in Kiel and sent on ?08.12.43?, as it can be seen on the hand stamp, without identification of the place. There is also the hand stamp of ?Felpost?. I wonder if some can provide me with the identification of the "Zerst?rer" with the number ?51?, at the ? Fleet parade in Kiel because of the launch of the heavy cruiser Prinz Eugen?, on 22.08.1938.Thank you very much. Antonio Abreu(Note: I wonder if it will be possible to send the images of the postal card, front and back)
