Stephen Adams Posted September 12, 2008 Posted September 12, 2008 Hello, I wonder if someone could let me know if it's ok to have a 2 year gap between one of these documents qualification date and the actual award date?I have never bought a document before just some medals, the document is for 1942 but apparently not given out until 1944.ThanksStephen
Guest Rick Research Posted September 12, 2008 Posted September 12, 2008 That is quite common for soldiers (wounded? transferred?) who had left the unit they had earned one in and took that long for paperwork to catch up.Can you post scans?Often the unit making the late authorization was not the one in which the medal was earned, which was part of the clerical delay.
Simon Orchard Posted September 16, 2008 Posted September 16, 2008 As Rick says, this is perfectly normal and can be encountered with other qualification type decorations where the awardee had since move units, wound badge awards are an often seen example.
Brian R Posted September 17, 2008 Posted September 17, 2008 Here's one to a senior Doctor from February, 1944.
Stephen Adams Posted September 18, 2008 Author Posted September 18, 2008 Thanks to everyone for your help, I don't have any documents yet, just looking at some on dealers websites, looks like the one I saw and liked the most is ok.Thanks again,Stephen
