pet Posted November 29, 2008 Posted November 29, 2008 i was talking to an irish history school teacher the other day and he was telling me that a good lot of ww1 soldiers took part in the war of independance against the ric/black n tans in the north of ireland as they had returned from the great war there was not much work for them so they joined local units of the ira and took part in the war of independance and michael collins sent a few of his leutenants north with weapons to the sailor town part of belfast ie the dock lands,my great grandfathers brother was stoned when he went to work in the docks area by unionists.i hope this is a good little snippit of history for the guys.
