Modern reproductions of the Narvick, Cholm, Krim, Demjansk and Kuban shields are either stamped or cast in Brass, Steel, Lead Alloy, or a light Aluminum alloy.Zinc is seldom used in their manufacture. All tend to lack the finer detailingof the original pieces and cast examples in particular often display small surface stipples or pock marks.Many copies of the KRIM and KUBAN shields have the appearance of light gold rather than dark bronze. Where prongs were used these were poorly soldered on. . . .
