Guest Rick Research
It's rather daunting to consider that a 15 year old was expected to commit himself to 15 years of service-- remember being 15? requirements page 2 of 4:

Guest Rick Research
I've got 1915 Imperial navy officer entry requirements, and there too an immediate disqualifier was "wearing glasses." I am still bemused by reading as a soon to graduate high school senior in the early 1970s that the U.S. Air Force Academy did not accept anyone who had dental fillings. I've passed over half a century on Planet Earth and in all that time have only met ONE person who had no fillings-- and no, NOT an Air Force Academy grad!
