Tom Y Posted March 15, 2009 Posted March 15, 2009 I just got this Verdeinstkreuz II from Niemann and am a little confused. Von Hessenthal lists several variations; with KD, KD?X, XI, XI, etc. I missed the cased one whith what I assumed was a repeat bar, but now I'm not sure. Can some kind soul clarify this for me?
Guest Rick Research Posted March 16, 2009 Posted March 16, 2009 II. Klasse is neck cross. This is ?M3K. Swords were authorized at the end of 1916 for frontline awards, but could be retroactively applied to earlier awards before the device existed. German recipients very often didn't bother since the Xs don't work well on German medal bar mountings. This is an initial frontline award.
