leigh kitchen Posted April 2, 2009 Posted April 2, 2009 (edited) The Order of The Banner of Labour was instituted 2/7/49, & conferred in 2 x classes, for merit in matters of the national economy, science, arts, culture & defence as well as for public & state services.It could be awarded to an organisation, factory or territorial unit, & could be awarded many times in the same class.It was discontinued in 1992."PRL" is borne on the reverse of this example, of the 2nd Class award which was awarded to STAWIARZ Kasimierz in 1989, "RP" was borne until 1952. leigh kitchen Posted April 2, 2009 Author Posted April 2, 2009 The Cross of Mert was instituted on 23/6/23, & was conferred in 3 x grades - Gold, Silver & Bronze, to civilians or miltary personnel for services of merit to the country or its citizens beyond their normal duty. It was awarded for merit in many areas of activity - professional & non-professional work, charity, donating blood, art & sciences, sport, life saving, long marital life & to mothers of many children.As of 1960, the Gold & Silver Crosses of Merit could be awarded twice, the Bronze Cross once.Originally, "RP" was borne in the centre of the Crosses, these examples bear "PRL" used from 1952 - 90, "RP" was again borne after 1992.The reverses of these Crosses are plain & flat.
