Tom Y Posted November 28, 2005 Posted November 28, 2005 In 1821 Hesse-Kassel issued this to veterans of the Freedom War. Like its Prussian counterpart, it was struck from captured French cannon, and is so stated on the rim, thus setting a prcedent for the 1870-71 medal. It was suspended from this ribbon, now long gone to dust.
Guest Rick Research Posted November 28, 2005 Posted November 28, 2005 It is always miraculous (literally) when one this old DOES have its ribbon...just think what all our 1918 treasures will look like in the year 2102-- the same time span.I know I'll still be complaining about prices. (Will watch for a loose Oldenburg FAK ribbon for you-- that should be close enough?)
