TerryG Posted July 24, 2009 Posted July 24, 2009 Lille again! This is a French town close to my heart so apologies if I bore you a bit more with period photos. This is a series of photos taken by a German soldier in May 1940.
TerryG Posted July 24, 2009 Author Posted July 24, 2009 These are very small photos so not too clear. This is an interesting shot. The column of prisoners enters the main square in Lille, officers at the front of course.
TerryG Posted July 24, 2009 Author Posted July 24, 2009 A close up shows that the French officers at the front of the column, turn to their right, I assume to salute the German officers standing at the left of the photo. The German detachment is also standing to attention.
TerryG Posted July 24, 2009 Author Posted July 24, 2009 A number of the French soldiers are still carrying their rifles
gerardkenny Posted July 27, 2009 Posted July 27, 2009 Those are very interesting, thanks for sharing those.
