deanncaz Posted August 6, 2009 Posted August 6, 2009 i hope someone can help with this family mystery. we have a medal that we have been unable to identify. i am unable to upload a photo so i hope the following description is detailed enough. on one side there are 3 heads (i think 1 may be Britannia) and at the bottom of this side is 1918 on the other side there are 3 sheilds one British, one Italian and one French(??)) the british and italian sheilds have crowns on top. also, the ribbon seems to be a mix of the British, French and Italian flag colours. Lastly, under the 3 sheilds is the following inscription "HELLA FEDE FRATELLI E NELLA VITTORIA _________________ ARMATA ALTIPIANI Regards, Dean.
JBFloyd Posted August 7, 2009 Posted August 7, 2009 (edited) Sounds like the Armata Altipiani Medal 1918, which is an unofficial medal by the Italians to commemorate the Battle of the Piave, 15th-24th June, 1918. Usually seen in silver, they were also struck in gold. Edited August 7, 2009 by JBFloyd
