FOR VALOUR Posted August 16, 2009 Posted August 16, 2009 Good morning , I wandered if you could help please today on the local car boot i came across a qsa to 38788 PTE W.G.WEST 130TH IMPERIAL YEOMANRY the disc and bars were separate in the box so i am trying to see if the bars in the box were his entitlement . The bars are transvaal and relief of ladysmith thank you in advance. Regards David (H)
William1 Posted March 28, 2010 Posted March 28, 2010 Hello David Did you ever get anywhere with this? The Relief of Ladysmith bar could not have been gained with 130 IY. This unit did not arrive in SA until May 1902 and did not see any action. Like the rest of the third contingent of IY, they came back home after a few months. All they would have got was South Africa 1902 and the state bar, but I couldn't tell you which state this company served in. However it is possible that he was a reenlisted old soldier, so still might be entitled to the Ladysmith bar, but whatever the case there is at least one bar (SA 02) missing. W.
