China interesting chinese Medal…

This Medal was sold on ebay for about 1800$. I tried to bid on it but the price was far out of my league. Is this overpaid or a good price for this medal?

The french speaking seller described it as a Chinese communication Medal 6th class (after 1911), it was in the original box as well. Does anyone have this medal in a higher class??

It's a handsome piece, but that's more than I would have paid. But then, I'm not a specialist.

Hello Gentlemen,

This is a higher class of the Order of Communication from Republic of China (prior to 1929).

I believe it's the 4the class.The cross is 52 millimeters in diameters + suspension.

What is written on the reverse, sensu stricto, is "交通部 : Ministry of Transportation". In sensu lato could it means "Communication"?

Thank you "No One" , I have to agree that it is hard to get accurate translation from chinese , especially when it is about old chinese medals ( before WWII ). There was a book published some years ago about the Order of China, then the author choose to publish a book about the Medal of the Chinese Empire ( before 1912 ). He had in mind the publishing of a 3rd book about Medals of China ( 1912 - 1949 ?? ), but due to the relative flop of the 2nd book never published the 3rd one.

 

I remember having asking him the question about this Ministry of Transportation Order, and he replied me that in China, collectors were considering it as a Medal, not as an Order ( nevertheless it is clearly a multi class award ). Long time ago a well known british dealer had a breast star of the second version of the Ministry of Transportation "Medal" the one used from 1929 onwards till ?? 1937.....no idea if it was issued after.

 

Anyway warm thanks for putting some lights on a topic, few do research on.
