jonv Posted September 28, 2009 Posted September 28, 2009 Looking to confirm whether this general could be Adjutant-General Alfred Burggraf und Graf zu Dohna-Schlobitten. Thanks in advance for any help with this
Guest Rick Research Posted September 29, 2009 Posted September 29, 2009 Can't be. While theoretically he might have decided to wear absolutely none of all those non-Prussian awards, this photo dates 1906+ (brooch for Wilhelm's wedding jubilee); the officer is of field grade rank (cannot make out what is on field of his epaulettes, but those are not the super-thick fringes of General officers and D-S was already a Generalmajor then but still had medal bar grade Prussian Red Eagle Order); and he was born in 1852 so could not have had the 1866 war cross in 3rd place on the medal bar.
jonv Posted September 29, 2009 Author Posted September 29, 2009 Yeh, I guess 14 yrs of age would've been a bit young, but now I'm mystified. Wondering if this might be another Dohna? thanks for the assist Rick!
jameslien Posted December 18, 2010 Posted December 18, 2010 This is Oberst Richard Fuerst zu Dohna =Schlibitten, who was a la suite der Armee 1914. He was a long time politician and member of Kaiser Wilhelm II's inner circle. He was authorized to wear the GdC uniform. Did you ever find a photo of Gen der Kav Alfred Burggraf zu Dona=Schlobitten? If so please post it. Cheers...James
