Mervyn Mitton Posted October 23, 2009 Posted October 23, 2009 I would not normally post a single officer's wings - however, these are a little out of the ordinary. You will see that the maker was in India and they are of a high quality with a brass backing plate. Naming details are - M.JALAL & BROS DRIGH ROAD (SIND) The officer was - AIR COMMODORE GEORGE SKELTON . I know nothing more about him - however, he must have been attached to the RAF Units stationed in India. I have never seen ref. to these makers before - has anyone else ?
Michael Johnson Posted October 27, 2009 Posted October 27, 2009 Drigh Road was the location of a major R.A.F. and later P.A.F. air base. This link gives its history: http://www.geocities.com/pafwebsite/AirBasesfaisal.html
Mervyn Mitton Posted October 27, 2009 Author Posted October 27, 2009 Michael - that's very interesting. They must have been one of several makers. I suppose the Air Commodore could have been the Commandant - the rank is senior enough ?
