o hAolain Posted October 27, 2009 Posted October 27, 2009 Some years ago my home was broken into and items of sentemental value belonging to my mother were stolen. They included WW1 and War of Independence medals handed down to her by her uncle. How could I go about trying to trace these medals? Naturally the Garrdai were informed but to no avail. The WW1 medals were his uncles and I have traced his unique reference number. Any assistance would be appreciated.
Theodor Posted October 28, 2009 Posted October 28, 2009 Hi! Make a thread here about the stolen medals: http://gmic.co.uk/index.php?showforum=142 Describe well what is missing, write all names or numbers /if any/ on the medals and that's it, wait and hope the stuff will be spotted somewhere!
Ulsterman Posted October 28, 2009 Posted October 28, 2009 Ditto above, but also put the information on the OMSA and OMRS websites and the British medals forum. The latter is checked quite often. Irish medals are easier to track as there are fewer named ones and the name means everything (money-wise). Eventually, they will show up.
