HeikoGrusdat
Just want to show you one of the most rare ww1 awards.... not shiny and golden , no neck order and no breast cross.... just a small little thing...

HeikoGrusdat
Our man is wearing the date clasp "23.1.1916" on the ribbon for the Tapferkeitsmedaille Hessen-Darmstadt !!! OEK N°884/1 Really not often seen... I know only two medal bars , one ribbon bar and two photos with it.... The card has been sent as field post with the stamp of Infanterie Regiment "Prinz Carl" (4.Grossherzoglich Hessisches) Nr.118 and everything fits... :jumping:
Guest Rick Research
Three NCOs received that. 3 3 3 3 Unfortunately I cannot put my hand on xerox of the mega-expensive gigantic multivolume Nimmergut book entry on the HT 23.01.16 Spange that names the three NCOs-- so if somebody has it and can list the suspects, please? Meanwhile, for one of the 26 officers, see http://gmic.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=29075
Beau Newman
Vizefeldwebel Weber aus Heimersheim, 2./118 Unteroffizier Lazar aus Hindenburg, 7./118 Vizefeldwebel Liebig aus Ullersdorf, 12./118
Guest Rick Research
Bingo! Thanks Beau!!! Looks like an Unteroffizier, which would be Lazar, but am not sure if that is an officers' sword knot showing off his bayonet-- the sender's company on his return address should nail this down. :jumping:

Guest Rick Research
But what was his return address on the back? It SHOULD say "Abs: Rang Name Komp/Baon Rgt" or else whoever he sent it to couldn't send him mail back.
HeikoGrusdat
Nope............no return adress , sorry :banger:
