Humberto Corado Posted November 20, 2009 Posted November 20, 2009 hello all, I would like to know if there was any General who fought in a battle ( or several battles) directly against troops under Napoleon direct command and remained undefeated, besides Wellington?? thanks in advance Humberto
Bear Posted November 22, 2009 Posted November 22, 2009 Hello Humberto, I'll start off with the (Not a General)British Naval Captain Sidney Smith who defeated Napoleon at the Siege at Acre in 1799. I'll have to look through the books. thanks, barry
Bear Posted November 22, 2009 Posted November 22, 2009 I haven't found anyone so far that has a perfect record against Napoleon. Don't forget about Lord Nelson who destroyed the French fleet at the Nile. I watched the movie Patton the other day. Patton defeated Rommels plan so he defeated Rommel??? It was Napoleon that ordered the fleet to anchor. thanks, barry
graham Posted August 31, 2019 Posted August 31, 2019 Humberto, Ahmad Pasha al-Jazzar was the Ottoman governor of Sidon at the siege of Acre who was in charge of the successful defense of that city from 20 March until 21 May 1799, aided as Barry has written by the British Naval Captain Sydney Smith.
