bmsm Posted November 26, 2009 Posted November 26, 2009 This picture is for the visor hat badge (obverse and reverse) for the Iraqi Police. There are two variations of the badge. One has the stars in a vertical position and they were used from 1960's -1990 and the wording under the eagle is IRAQI REPUBLIC. The earlier badges were made in Romania. The second variation has the stars in a horizontal positon and they were used from 1991-2003 and the wording under the eagle is REPUBLIC OF IRAQ. The badges made after 1991 are of poorer quality as Iraq had to make their own. Both badges are made in a solid and stamped version. The larger 2.375 in. high and 1.75 in. wide hat badge is used by the Traffic Police and the students of the Police College. Les-Art Posted June 17, 2010 Posted June 17, 2010 Hi Bmsm, I'm interested in knowing the dates of wear for the General Kassim era. I have photos of Iraqi policemen wearing this badge as far back as the 1920's. Regards, Les
