DonC Posted December 10, 2009 Posted December 10, 2009 (edited) Hello, All - I have just aquired a uniform and document set to Oberst von Sternegg (DOB 14 June 1889). I know his general service record and awards (WWI EKI & II, WW2 KVK I & II). He was the Commander of Wehrbezirks Horn am Neckar until his death (December 1944). I am looking for any information as to his postings and other awards he may have received. I will post pics of the set when I get it mounted. Any help, as always, is much appreciated. Hi Rick - I have his promotion docs from Major to Oberstleutnant and Oberstleutnant to Oberst (signed by von Brautitsch and Keitel, respectively). I'll post some scans of them here as they are the nice large embossed type - plus, I need some opinions as to whether the AH signatures are original or machined. Muchas gracias, Ricardo! Don
DonC Posted December 11, 2009 Author Posted December 11, 2009 (edited) Here's a pic of the Herr Oberst's old-style Reichswehr tunic, tailored when he was a Hauptmann in 1927. It is by far my earliest uniform... Edited December 12, 2009 by DonC
DonC Posted December 12, 2009 Author Posted December 12, 2009 Anyone good at determining an original signature from a machined facsimile?
DonC Posted December 12, 2009 Author Posted December 12, 2009 (edited) von Brauchitsch... Edited December 12, 2009 by DonC
Guest Rick Research Posted December 12, 2009 Posted December 12, 2009 I'd say it is IMPOSSIBLE to determine from a camera. You need to lay these on a scanner and get direct SURFACE imagery. A signature will show thicker lines where a real pen crossed over itself. A print is uniform. You can see the cross over lines on von Brauchitsch, but when I look at the Hitlers all I see looks like print--

Am I correct that the BZ3bX is the Order of the Zahringen Lion? Don Edited December 12, 2009 by DonC
Guest Rick Research Posted December 13, 2009 Posted December 13, 2009 Yes. Rank-List-speak for not-really-lazy-just-bad typists. :catjava:
