I picked up this grouping of Pte Rowland. The picture of his grave as well as the picture of the memorial at Week St Mary made the grouping for me. The poor fellow was only 21 when he was killed

That looks a really interesting group. Harry Patch was DCLI wasn't he?

Do you need any more research doing?

    Glenn.

    Yes he was Glenn.

A nice group Scott, if you do any research please post it.

I have some litterature about DCLI since it´s my main interest when it comes to medals. If you have the date when he died I could try to look up what happened that day or about the actual campaign.

There's a death certificate shown in the photo, but I can't read the detail........

Ah, I had'nt noticed the CWGC print out, bottom left of the photo - died 30/11/43.

Nice medals Scott, whats the reverse of the medal slip show?

    "Father in thy gracious keeping

leave we now our loved one sleeping"

Thanx very much for the help and replies.

The death certificate states he died on 30-Nov-1943 in the Prince of Wales Hospital in Plymouth from Head injuries after being thrown from a motor cycle, and the death is listed as accidental.

I too maintain a large interest in the D.C.L.I.( both World Wars) and that was the main reason i bought this grouping.

thank you again for the additional information Leigh
