The Monkey God
Hi Guys, Can anyone show me what a WW2 CONDOLENCE SLIP looks like? Whats the difference between a slip & a scroll?
leigh kitchen
Here's one, with a "medal slip", basic, small pieces of paper rather than the larger more colourful & ormate scrolls. These are to a WWII Royal Artlleryman who died as POW of the Japanese at Changi, Singapore about the time of the POW's "strike" against the Japanese order to sign chts stating that they would not attempt to escape. joe campbell
these are so powerful in their simplicity.... a piece of paper... a life... my granny (from keswick) had one on her wall for many years for her older brother Georgie; LT GEORGE BOTT Killed near Loos 1917 it left quite an impression when i first saw it at age 7 or 8. and the faraway look in her eyes when she said "he was such a sweet young man....". and that probably 45 years after he died... joe
