Noor Posted May 30, 2010 Posted May 30, 2010 Hi all, I picked up one photo this Saturday and would like to know more history behind it... What units was in the Balkans on 1916? Is there any good link, what help me to study this period/location more? I afraid there isn't any insignia, ranks, etc propely to see on the picture. Also back is clear without any text. Because I picked it up from Dublin, was there any Ireland related units same time - maybe Royal Irish Fusiliers? Asking it, because in this case my VM for RIR would be great set on display (and actually I got them from same place ); http://gmic.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=43125
GRA Posted May 31, 2010 Posted May 31, 2010 Hello Noor! You might want to take a look at The Long Long Trail, and more specifically Theatres of war - Salonika. There are plenty of Irish regiments listed in the order of battle of the 10th (Irish) Division, including three battalions of the Royal Irish Fusiliers (2nd, 5th and 6th). /Jonas
leigh kitchen Posted May 31, 2010 Posted May 31, 2010 The man seated front right is wearng a metal shoulder title, a straight bar configuration by the look of it - any chance of a good close up of that?
