Noor Posted June 26, 2010 Posted June 26, 2010 Hi picked up today two British items, nothing fancy now - just a button and pin. 1. When we collected our son from grandparents house, my son bring over to me and showed button box.... anyway, I found this British uniform button from it. No idea how it got in there because my wife's parents and family haven't had almost any contact with the army. My question is - what regiment it is?
Noor Posted June 26, 2010 Author Posted June 26, 2010 2. Now, later in Dublin, I found from random junk shop box this small RAF pin. My question is - first at all, what is that? From what period it can be and what would be the value, because I am not sure does I keep it to myself.
Tony Farrell Posted June 26, 2010 Posted June 26, 2010 The answer is on the button: The Buffs (Royal East Kent Regiment). The RAF pin is a 'sweetheart brooch'. Both are in the wrong forum. I'm not being anal, it's just that placing queries in appropriate forums garners quicker (and probably more accurate) responses.
Tony Posted June 27, 2010 Posted June 27, 2010 The sweetheart brooch can probably be dated between April 1918 and 1952 as it has a King's crown and the RAF was formed in April 1918 I think. Tony
leigh kitchen Posted June 27, 2010 Posted June 27, 2010 The button is post 1935 (till about 1952)version for The Royal East Kent Regt.
