AnnaCatherine Posted July 8, 2010 Posted July 8, 2010 Can anyone help me ID what this thing actually is? It's British, I think. It's inscribed on the lid: Brevete _ . G . D . G
William1 Posted July 9, 2010 Posted July 9, 2010 Hi AC This isn't something I recognise, but I don't think it is British. "Brevete" means "patented" in French, so the odds are it is French or Belgian. Message holder seems a reasonable guess though. Best wishes, W.
QSAMIKE Posted July 9, 2010 Posted July 9, 2010 Could also be an Artillery slide rule or measuring instrument holder...... Mike
AnnaCatherine Posted July 9, 2010 Author Posted July 9, 2010 Okay, as far as size is concerned I have that shown in the following photos. Now, I have been told that this was a "secret" message holder. Why would patented be on the face of the hatch? Who knows. LOL
