MJC
I know this is the Imperial section, but this is where the device gurus reside, and I am hoping to get some opinions on this 40 year set-up. I was under the impression the wreath was supposed to be suspended beneath one eagle, rather than connecting two eagles. The second image is from Rick's device gallery and clearly there are differences. But could there be variations, or is this setup too weird for comfort? Thanks in advance, Mike
saschaw
Mike, the device is not supposed to be there, but... strange things happened. Might one see the whole bar? There are many fakes out there, especially using rare devices.
MJC
As you will have noted, the device doesn't even match, though I can't identify it otherwise. Thanks again for your assistance.
MJC
BTW, I've asked for better pictures and will upload them when they arrive. On close inspection, the wreath potentially appears to be attached to the left eagle.
HeikoGrusdat
I am no expert for the device itself - this must answer others.... but the story of the bar would fit... I know of some old navy engeneer guys that had this really typical combination of china and / or DSWA , a crown order / crown order medal or red eagle / red eagle medal or both , in service before 1897 and still in the job to get the 40 years... The bar is possible but if the device is good or not - I don`t know...
saschaw
The bar does not look bad.
