AlecH Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 Hi Everyone, Bought two tinnies and a stickpin ( small 14mm x 18mm) at the local German Flea-market, last weekend. The tinnies were quickly categorized, the stickpin less so, I'm beginning to wonder if it is German at all. Do members have any opinions. Regards
Guest IMHF Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 (edited) It is German: Lorenzo Edited August 12, 2010 by IMHF
Guest IMHF Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 AlecH Can you post some images of the reverse I would like to check them out, thank you. Lorenzo
Scowen Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 Indeed Lorenzo is correct, it is German. These were made during the mid 1920's to show opposition to the Dawes Plan named after Charles Dawes who chaired a committee, to decide on how to collect the reparations from Germany. It failed & a few years later the Young plan took it's place. As expected pins were produced to oppose that as well (I have one somewhere, if I can find it I'll post it). The reverse should be marked to the NSDAP. Cheers Don
AlecH Posted August 12, 2010 Author Posted August 12, 2010 Hello Gentlemen, Thanks for the posts - interesting reading, I never thought to put Dawes in the search panel. I was beginning to think I'd bought a dud pin, having never seen another. On Saturday I showed it to a couple of fellow collectors at the flea-market, they said it wasn't German. After reading the thread, I had a good idea where to look in the new Hüsken catalogue and found it in there. I'm pleased & chuffed to have it. The back of my pin is plain. Best Wishes
