Hi - Bob. Are you branching out from the Iraq collection ?

I wasn't aware that Russia belonged to Interpol - which is an organisation formed by European Police Forces to act as an Intelligence gatherer for all of the Forces - and also, to alert Forces around the World of serious crimes. The HQ is in Paris and it is staffed with officers from all participating Countries.

I am afraid my opinion of them went right down when they appointed the Sth. African Police Commissioner as their head officer. He is presently awaiting an appeal against a 15 year sentence for conspiracy to murder, corruption, bribery and many others. I doubt if he will ever serve the sentence - tooo many 'friends' in high places........

    Mervyn,

It's good to hear from you!!! No, I'm not branching out from collecting Iraqi items. I've had this patch for + or - 15 years when I used to collect Soviet items. I have patches, badges and medals from back when I used to collect them It seemed like all the Military Shows and gun shows used to have all kinds of Russian items on their tables and now you don't see much anymore. Either no one collects it or the items have all dried up. Eveb the Iraqi items (Saddam Era) are getting harder to find if they can be found at all.

This is not a Soviet patch it is from the Russian Federation era, so after 1992, I think. The clue to the time period is the Rissian Flag colours which weren't used during the soviet period.

This may be a social patch , as I can not think of any occassion when this would be used on a uniform, Interpol being an non uniformed organisation.

As far as I aware INTERPOL is an INTERNATIONAL police organisation and not solely European, I think they are Europol .

Plenty of Russian stuff around, it's all on Ebay !!!

    Regards,

    Les

    Les,

Thanks for the information on the arm patch. It's always nice to get the correct information for an item.
