tsarenko1975 Posted November 9, 2010 Posted November 9, 2010 Слишком большие выпуклости на реверсе, отсутствие клейма пробы на ушке (№700000+ шли еще в серебре)
kustik12 Posted November 9, 2010 Posted November 9, 2010 Слишком большие выпуклости на реверсе, отсутствие клейма пробы на ушке (№700000+ шли еще в серебре) What maker marks you try to find on this type of cross?
tsarenko1975 Posted November 9, 2010 Posted November 9, 2010 Sorry, but can I think that Your mind about this cross is "original"?
kustik12 Posted November 9, 2010 Posted November 9, 2010 (edited) for me look like original. But for sure I ask for better pictures. Edited November 9, 2010 by kustik12
tsarenko1975 Posted November 9, 2010 Posted November 9, 2010 I can mistake, but ribbon looks like soviet standard (24 mm), not russian WWI (28 mm). Clusp on band was introduced in 1917, but cross #700000 was earlier. What do You think about this?
kustik12 Posted November 9, 2010 Posted November 9, 2010 Ribbon original or nice repo. But not from Soviet Order of Glory or from Medal of Victory. Clusp not russian made and I don't know from what country.
kustik12 Posted November 9, 2010 Posted November 9, 2010 Yes, that Cross what you show is original. Do you see any maker marks on him?
czarek Posted November 15, 2010 Author Posted November 15, 2010 Dear All! Many thanks for helpful comments, especially to Serguei. Of course, I am still waiting for fresh suggestions concerning the mysterious twig. Best! Cezary
IainM Posted November 15, 2010 Posted November 15, 2010 The twig is a laurel branch and it signifies victory or heroism. When I get into town tomorrow I will check in my reference books to see if it is listed for any of the Imperial medals. Regards. IainM
IainM Posted November 16, 2010 Posted November 16, 2010 (edited) I have managed to locate an image of a St George with a laurel branch. Not exactly the same but would indicate that the practice of these additions did happen. Regards. IainM http://yfrog.com/9dphoto029rj Edited November 16, 2010 by IainM
